Live-Action Cruella de Vil Film In Development

Disney villain to get own film.

The good folk over THR are hearing that Aline Brosh McKenna (‘We Bought a Zoo,’ ‘The Devil Wears Prada’) has been tapped by Disney to provide the screenplay for ‘Cruella,’ a new live-action feature centred on the ‘101 Dalmatians’ villainess Cruella De Vil.

First appearing in Dodie Smith’s 1956 novel ‘The Hundred and One Dalmatians,’ the dog-fur-loving fashionista was made famous by Disney’s 1961 animated film. Glenn Close famously portrayed the iconic character in Disney’s 1996 live-action update, and the 2000 sequel, ‘102 Dalmatians.’

As expected, the Mouse House is keeping details on its new take firmly under wraps.

McKenna will also serve as producer on the project, alongside Andrew Gunn (‘Bedtime Stories,’ ‘Sky High’).
