Live-Action BANANAMAN Movie In The Works

Classic comic book character to get silver screen treatment…

It has been confirmed that a live-action feature based on the classic 1980s superhero ‘Bananaman’ is in development over at Elstree Studio Productions.

Created by Dave Donaldson, written by Steve Bright and drawn by John Geering, the comic strip and cartoon series followed Eric Wimp (later Eric Twinge), an ordinary schoolboy, living at 29 Acacia Road Nuttytown, who eats a banana to transform into the titular Bananaman. A parody of Superman, Batman, and Captain Marvel, Bananaman sports a distinctive cowled blue and yellow outfit complete with a yellow two-tailed cape resembling a banana skin. His super powers include the ability to fly and superhuman strength.

Talking to Screen Daily, a spokesman for Elstree revealed the film, set for release summer 2015, would be a “type of origin story.” An official website for the film can be found over at BananamanMovie.com, featuring the slogan #PeelThePower.
