Role Model’s director David Wain in talks to director Focker’s film. “Role Model” director David Wain is in talks to helm the third film in the “Focker” franchise. MTV reports that Wain, along with Chris Wietz and Peyton Reed, is a potential replacement to fill the director’s chair. The first two “Meet the Parents” films were directed by Jay Roach. Wain, who is out promoting the DVD release of Role Models, said, “discussions are being had.” Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro and Owen Wilson are in negotiations to reprise their roles in the franchise. The rest of the cast is not as concrete, although Barbra Streisand recently said in an interview that she is interested and waiting on the next “Focker” film. The screenplay is being penned by John Hamburg, who wrote Along Came Polly. He also penned upcoming buddy comedy, I Love You, Man, which stars Paul Rudd and Jason Segel.
