Lionsgate Looking To Develop CUBE 3D

Lionsgate, the studio behind the ‘Saw’ franchise is looking to develop ‘Cube 3D.’

Shock Till You Drop is reporting that Lionsgate is currently “fielding pitches” for ‘Cube 3D.’ There is no word yet on whether the 3D movie would be a sequel or a remake of the 1997 cult sci-fi/horror which was the directorial debut of Vincenzo Natali (‘Splice’).

The original ‘Cube’ follows the story of seven kidnapped strangers who find themselves trapped in a never ending series of connected cube-shaped rooms, trying to navigate through the traps each cube may or may not contain. The movie spawned a sequel, Cube 2: Hypercube, and a prequel, Cube Zero.

With the ‘Saw’ franchise coming to an end, are Lionsgate hoping to turn ‘Cube’ into the new yearly horror outing?
