First piece of casting news for the remake.

Bloody Disgusting reports that Lily Collins (‘Mirror Mirror,’ ‘Abduction,’ ‘The Blind Side’) has landed a role in Fede Alvarez’s remake of Sam Raimi’s cult classic film ‘The Evil Dead.’

Penned by Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues, with revisions by Diablo Cody, the remake centers on five twenty-something friends (David, Natalie, Eric, Olivia, and Mia) holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

While the film sounds familiar to the 1981 original, the remake will feature a drug subplot with the Mia character heading up to the cabin to detox after a recent overdose. As she struggles with her new-found sobriety, Mia begins “acting insane,” so it comes as no surprise that nobody believes her crazy claims of coyote dogs and trees attacking her!
