LAST NIGHT Director Massy Tadjedin to Tackle THE ADULTS

Will write and direct the coming-of-age drama.

Deadline reports that writer/director Massy Tadjedin is set to tackle a feature adaptation of Alison Espach’s novel ‘The Adults’ for Electric City partners Jamie Patricof and Lynette Howell.

Published in 2011, ‘The Adults’ tells the tale of Emily Vidal, a smart and snarky suburban teen who falls in love with an older man, and the complications that stem from their relationship.

Tadjedin made her directorial debut with ‘Last Night,’ the 2010 romantic drama starring Keira Knightley, Sam Worthington and Eva Mendes. Her screenwriting credits include ‘Leo’ and ‘The Jacket.’

“We really see this story being a strong adaptation for the screen with its rich ensemble of characters,” said Patricof. “Having seen Massy’s first film, we feel that she is the kind of filmmaker who could handle the weight of the book’s moral ambiguity, while sustaining multiple story lines and garnering compelling performances.”
