Kristen Wiig in Talks to Join Ben Stiller for THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY

Ben Stiller’s Walter Mitty may have found the lady of his dreams.

Kristen Wiig (‘Friends with Kids,’ ‘Bridesmaids’) is in negotiations to star opposite Ben Stiller in ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,’ the long-gestating re-imagining of the 1947 Danny Kaye movie, which in turn, was based on James Thurber’s short story.

Stiller is attached to play the title character, a timid magazine photo manager who daydreams of exciting adventures, only to find himself in an adventure of his own when he goes in search of a missing negative. The screenplay comes from Steve Conrad (‘The Pursuit of Happyness,’ ‘The Weather Man’).

THR says that Wiig would be playing Mitty’s co-worker and the girl of his fantasies. Oscar-winner Shirley MacLaine (‘Terms Of Endearment’) is also on board, playing Stiller’s mother.

Plans are for the comedy to begin lensing in April in New York and Iceland, with Stiller producing with Red Hour Entertainment partner Stuart Cornfeld.
