Kristen Wiig (‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,’ ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’) and Alexander Skarsgård (‘The East,’ ‘True Blood’) are set to join the cast of first time director Marielle Heller’s coming-of-age drama ‘The Diary of a Teenage Girl.’

Scripted by Heller, the film is based on the critically acclaimed graphic novel of the same name by Phoebe Gloeckner and tells the story of a brutally honest teenage artist living in San Francisco in the ’70s as she attempts to navigate her way through an affair with her mother’s boyfriend.

British actress Bel Powley, best known for her breakout role in the Royal Court Theatre’s West End production of ‘Tusk Tusk,’ will play the title character with the script coming from Heller.

Bert Hamelinck and Madeline Samit of Caviar will produce along with Miranda Bailey of Cold Iron and Archer Gray’s Anne Carey. Amanda Marshall of Cold Iron and Michael Sagol of Caviar will serve as executive producers along with Jorma Taccone.
