KON-TIKI Helmers Set for BEATLES Feature

Project secures music rights.

It has been announced that Oscar nominated Norwegian directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg (‘Kon-Tiki’) are to step behind the camera for an adaptation of Lars Saabye Christensen’s novel ‘Beatles.’

Christensen’s 1984 breakthrough – one of the all-time best-selling books in Norway and sold to 16 countries – follows four 1960s’ teenagers about to enter the grown-up world, their boyish tricks, hopes and disappointments, falling in love, despair … still no group is better than The Beatles. The script was penned by Axel Hellstenius.

Long-in-development, the film will finally go into production this June after securing the necessary music rights. ‘Beatles’ is scheduled for release early 2014, to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the novel.
