Filmmaker eyes action thriller.

Sony Pictures has reportedly hired Jeff Wadlow (‘Kick-Ass 2,’ ‘Never Back Down,’ ‘Cry Wolf’) to take the director’s chair for the action thriller ‘Go Fast.’

‘xXx’ scribe Rich Wilkes is on board to pen the script which will deal with the fast boats used by Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents to thwart drug smugglers on the high seas.

Todd Garner’s Broken Road Productions (‘Knight and Day,’ ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’) is backing the project.

Wadlow is expected to move on to the action thriller after he finishes up on Marvel’s ‘X-Men’ spinoff, ‘X-Force,’ which is set up over at 20th Century Fox.

The highly anticipated ‘Kick-Ass 2’ explodes into Irish cinemas August 14th.
