Kenneth Branagh’s CINDERELLA Finds Its Stepsisters

The re-imaging begins filling out the supporting roles.

British actresses Holliday Grainger (‘The Borgias’) and Sophie McShera (‘Downton Abbey’) have landed the beautiful but mean stepsister roles in Kenneth Branagh’s live-action adaptation of ‘Cinderella,’ according to THR.

They join Lily James (‘Downton Abbey’), who is playing the titular lead role, Cate Blanchett as the wicked stepmother, and ‘Game of Thrones’ star Richard Madden as the handsome prince.

Featuring a script by Aline Brosh McKenna (‘The Devil Wears Prada’) and Chris Weitz (‘A Better Life,’ ‘The Golden Compass’), the re-imaging follows a prince who is set for “a politically arranged marriage, until the plan is threatened when the prince meets Cinderella.”
