Keira Knightley to Lead THE OTHER TYPIST

Will topline the jazz-age drama.

Keira Knightley (‘Anna Karenina’) is attached to produce and star in a feature adaptation of Suzanne Rindell’s debut novel ‘The Other Typist,’ says THR.

Compared to Alfred Hitchcock and Patricia Highsmith, with dollops of ‘The Great Gatsby,’ the book follows Rose Baker, a plain, prudish young typist in a police precinct in Prohibition-era New York. Despite her best intentions, Rose strikes up a friendship with the beautiful and mysterious Odalie Lazare, the “other typist.” As the two women navigate between the sparkling underworld of speakeasies by night and their work at the police precinct by day, Rose is drawn fully into her charismatic co-worker’s high-stakes world. And soon her fascination with Odalie turns into an obsession from which she may never recover.

‘The Other Typist’ is set up over at Fox Searchlight with senior vice president of production Zola Mashariki and director of production DanTram Nguyen overseeing development for the studio
