Kate Winslet in Talks for DIVERGENT

Project also testing for male leads.

Award-winning actress Kate Winslet is believed to be eyeing a role alongside Shailene Woodley (‘The Spectacular Now,’ ‘The Descendants’) in Summit Entertainment and director Neil Burger’s upcoming adaptation of the young adult novel ‘Divergent.’

Based on the first book in author Veronica Roth’s planned trilogy, the story follows 16-year-old Beatrice “Tris” Prior, who must choose among the predetermined factions to define her identity for the rest of her life, a decision made more difficult when she discovers that she is an anomaly who does not fit into any one group, and that the society she lives in is not perfect after all.

News of Winslet’s involvement comes from Variety, although there are no details as to what role the actress is being lined up for.

The trade adds that a number of young actors, including the likes of Lucas Till (‘X-Men: First Class’), Alex Pettyfer (‘Magic Mike’) and ‘War Horse’ star Jeremy Irvine, have tested for the male lead that will be paired with Woodley.
