French actress takes Joe Strummer biopic.
Yesterday brought news that French actress Julie Delpy is to reunite with her ‘Before Sunrise’ co-star Ethan Hawke and director Richard Linklater for a second sequel to the beloved romance.
Now Variety has word that Delpy has signed on to helm ‘The Right Profile,’ a biopic of The Clash frontman Joe Strummer. The film takes its name from a song of the same name on the band’s seminal 1979 album ‘London Calling.’
The film will focus on Strummer’s life and his planned disappearance from the public spotlight in 1982. Strummer, an iconic figure in the British punk movement, died in December 2002.
Variety adds that Delpy may take a role in the film. The actress has appeared in all but one of her previous directorial efforts, including 2007’s ‘2 Days in Paris.’ She recently finished shooting ‘2 Days in New York,’ a sequel to the aforementioned film.
