Long-in-development reboot begins casting…
Deadline hears that Josh Gad (‘Frozen,’ ‘Book Of Mormon,’ ‘Love and Other Drugs’) is set to take the lead in Warner’s big screen reboot of the classic 1960s TV series ‘Gilligan’s Island.’
Created by legendary producer Sherwood Schwartz, who also created ‘The Brady Bunch,’ the series followed the comic adventures of seven castaways as they attempted to survive the uncharted island on which they had been shipwrecked. The cast of the series was made up of Bob Denver as Gilligan, Alan Hale Jr. as Skipper, Dawn Wells as Mary Ann, Tina Louise as Ginger, Jim Backus and Natalie Schafer as Thurston and Lovey Howell, and Russell Johnson as The Professor.
Screenwriters Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez (‘1600 Penn’) are attached to write the script for the reboot with Schwartz’s sons – Lloyd and Ross Schwartz – serving as executive producers alongside Tracey Silvers and Cathy Silvers.
It is not yet known which role Gad will take.
