JGL to write, star, produce and direct untitled comedy.

‘50/50’ star Joseph Gordon-Levitt has decided it’s time he make his feature directorial debut. Deadline reports that the multi talented actor has penned an untitled comedy that he will co-star in with Scarlett Johansson.

While details on the comedy are being kept under wraps, the actor revealed that the film “is a sexy comedy about a modern-day Don Juan, and his quest to become less of a selfish dick.”

Talking about his move into directing, “I was a child actor for years and quit at 19, went to school for a while and a big part of why I came back was that I ultimately wanted to make movies. I spent a year working with Christopher Nolan, Rian Johnson, Steven Spielberg, and I did my best to pay attention. I’ve also been making short films for a long time now, I’ve directed a ton of them, and that is a huge part of why I feel comfortable and confident in this.”

The film will be financed by Voltage Pictures, with Gordon-Levitt’s collaborative production company hitRECord Films producing in association with Ram Bergman Productions.

2012 is going to a busy year for Gordon-Levitt, the stars has four high profile films hitting cinemas; ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ the bike messenger thriller ‘Premium Rush,’ Rian Johnson’s ‘Looper,’ and Steven Spielberg’s ‘Lincoln.’
