Jon Favreau Cooks Up Indie Comedy CHEF

Will write, direct and star in indie feature.

After concentrating on big budget movies like ‘Cowyboys & Aliens’ and the first two ‘Iron Man’ movies, Jon Favreau (‘Cowboys & Aliens,’ ‘Iron Man’) is to return to his indie routes with the indie comedy ‘Chef.’

The film, which will be written, directed and star Favreau, is set in a Los Angeles-based restaurant with the “slice-of-life tale centring on a chef and the people who flit in and out of his life.”

‘Modern Family’ actress Sofia Vergara is reportedly attached for the role of Favreau’s ex-wife, with Bobby Cannavale (‘Boardwalk Empire’) in negotiations to play a sous-chef. THR adds that John Leguizamo (‘Kick-Ass 2’) is also circling a role.

“Made” was also the last time he directed and starred in a pic, though he had small roles in both “Iron Man” pics and “Elf.”
