Johnson and Hemsworth up for true life robbery tale.
Deadline has learned that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Liam Hemsworth (‘The Hunger Games,’ ‘The Expendables 2’) are close to signing on to star in the indie heist thriller ‘Empire State.’
The film is based on the true story of a 1982 NYC armored car company robbery thought at the time to be the largest cash heist in U.S. history.
Adam Mazer (‘Breach,’ ‘You Don’t Know Jack’) penned the script while Dito Montiel (‘A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints,’ ‘Fighting,’ ‘The Son Of No One’) is directing. Production is scheduled to kick off in April.
