John McNaughton Directing THE HARVEST with Michael Shannon and Samantha Morton

Charlie Tahan and Natasha Calis also on board.

Director John McNaughton (‘Wild Things,’ ‘Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer’) is set to step behind the camera for the psychological thriller ‘The Harvest,’ with Michael Shannon, Samantha Morton, Charlie Tahan (‘Frankenweenie’) and Natasha Calis (‘The Possession’) attached to star.

Per Variety, the Stephen Lancellotti-penned film centres on a married couple with medical backgrounds who keep their sick son secluded in a controlled environment. When a young girl moves in next door, it gives the boy hope of a better life. As the teens grow closer, the tight-knit world his over-protective mother has created begins to unravel.

The film will begin lensing in New York this week with Leslie Lyles (‘We Need to Talk About Kevin’) and Meadow Williams (‘Apollo 13’) co-starring.

“This is the first horror script I’ve been interested in 25 years, so it’s kind of cool to return to the genre. I got the script a few years ago and loved the story, which is dark and has a great twist. It’s like a cross between ‘Hansel and Gretel’ and ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf.’”
