John Lasseter is coming to Dublin

The Pixar boss will attend a screening of CARS 2, alongside a public interview.

The most powerful man in animation (after Buzz Lightyear) is coming to Dublin for an event titled ANIMATION IN FOCUS on July 25th, where he’ll be interviewed by Movies.ie very own roving reporter Paul Byrne.

The event is being hosted by The Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA), with Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, Ireland. John Lasseter is the latest in a long line of guests at IFTA’S ‘In Conversation With’ events, Previous IFTA interviews include screenwriters Graham Linehan, Dick Clement & Ian La Frenais; actors Peter O’Toole, David Kelly and Ciarán Hinds; producer Redmond Morris and director Dearbhla Walsh.

Also featured at this Animation in Focus event will be a special screening of John Lasseter’s latest animated film CARS 2, which he directed and wrote – a follow up to his 2006 Golden Globe winning feature Cars. Denise Ream, producer of Cars 2 and associate producer of Disney/Pixar’s Oscar winning feature animation Up, will also take part in the Q&A.

Speaking about the event IFTA CEO Áine Moriarty said “It is with great pleasure that we welcome John Lasseter to Ireland for this very special IFTA creative learning event. The animation sector is one of the strongest within the Irish industry with home-produced feature film and television productions achieving great success and reaching record audiences in Ireland around the globe. To see John Lasseter, one of the world’s leading pioneers of animated storytelling, share his vast knowledge and experience will be a huge thrill for Members of IFTA and his many Irish fans.”
