Joel Kinnaman to Replace Tom Hardy in SUICIDE SQUAD

Kinnaman in talks for role of Rick Flag…

The Wrap is reporting that Joel Kinnaman (‘Robocop,’ ‘The Killing’) has entered into talks to join the cast of David Ayer’s anti-hero ensemble ‘Suicide Squad.’

Created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru, the Suicide Squad is a team of imprisoned super-villains who perform high-risk missions for the U.S. Government in exchange for commuted sentences. The team’s actions are highly classified, and the government is able to deny any involvement by claiming that they are not responsible for the damages of a random super-villain attack.

Should a deal be reached, Kinnaman would be replacing Tom Hardy in the role of Rick Flag, the leader of the antihero team made up of Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), the Joker (Jared Leto), Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne). ‘The Help’ and ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ actress Viola Davis is in negotiations to play the government agent in charge of the whole operation, Amanda Waller.

Charles Roven (‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,’ ‘The Dark Knight’) and Richard Suckle (‘American Hustle’) are producing the comic-book adaptation with Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Colin Wilson and Geoff Johns on board as executive producers.
