British filmmaker to adapt seminal cyberpunk novel

‘Attack the Black’ writer/director Joe Cornish has signed up to write and direct an adaptation of Neal Stephenson’s 1992 cyberpunk novel ‘Snow Crash.’

Set in the near future the sci-fi tale follows Hiro Protagonist, a computer hacker/samurai swordsman/pizza delivery driver who discovers a new computer virus/drug called Snow Crash is striking down hackers everywhere. Hiro races along the neon-lit streets on a search-and-destroy mission for the shadowy virtual villain behind Snow Crash.

The project is set up over at Paramount Pictures with Kathleen Kennedy producing via her Kennedy/Marshall banner.
