Jim Sheridan to Remake INTO THE WEST

Sheridan updating the family adventure.

It has been revealed that Jim Sheridan (‘In America’) is writing an update to his screenplay for the 1992 hit ‘Into The West.’

Directed by Mike Newell and based on a story by Tim Palmer, the film followed two young boys, Ossie and Tayto, who escape the poverty of their Dublin council estate on an adventure “into the west” to find a mystical horse recently stolen from them. It starred Gabriel Byrne, Ciarán Fitzgerald, Rúaidhrí Conroy, Brendan Gleeson, Ellen Barkin, David Kelly and Colm Meaney.

Sheridan is attached to direct the new version, which “will re-imagine the earlier film’s themes in a new US setting.” The project has been granted €50,000 by Irish Film Board.
