Classic play to receive new cinematic adaptation.
‘Zero Dark Thirty’ star Jessica Chastain is take the lead in ‘Miss Julie,’ Norwegian filmmaker Liv Ullmann’s upcoming adaptation of August Strindberg’s renowned 1888 play.
Set in 1874 at a count’s estate in Sweden, the play depicts the battle of the sexes and classes that ensues when a woman trying to escape an existence cramped by social mores is suddenly drawn to a senior servant.
Variety adds that Colin Farrell and Samantha Morton (‘Cosmopolis’) are also attached to co-star in the adaptation.
