‘Zero Dark Thirty’ star Jessica Chastain and Kristen Wiig (‘Bridesmaids,’ ‘Saturday Night Live’) have reportedly entered into talks for the female leads opposite Matt Damon in the sci-fi project ‘The Martian.’
With Ridley Scott directing from a script by Drew Goddard, the story is based on the e-book by Andy Weir and revolves around an astronaut who becomes stranded on Mars and must figure out how to survive long enough to return to Earth.
Simon Kinberg is producing through his Genre Films shingle with Aditya Sood and Scott co-producing.
Chastain will next be seen starring alongside Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar.’ Wigg’s next offering is the Shira Piven-directed ‘Welcome to Me.’
