Alba takes villain role
Jessica Alba (‘Sin City: A Dame To Kill For,’ ‘Machete Kills’) has closed a deal to join Hailee Steinfeld (‘Ender’s Game,’ ‘True Grit’) and Samuel L Jackson (‘Oldboy’ ‘Avengers Assemble’) in director Kyle Newman’s action-comedy ‘Barely Lethal.’
With production set to kick off this October, the John D’Arco-scripted film follows Megan (Steinfeld), a 16-year-old international assassin yearning for a “normal” adolescence who fakes her own death and enrolls as a senior in a suburban high school.
Alba has landed the role of the film’s big bad, Victoria Knox. Jackson, who joined the project back in May, will play Megan’s mentor.
Brett Ratner, RKO Pictures and Hopscotch Pictures are co-producing.
