Jennifer Lawrence

Filmmaker heading to ‘The Glass Castle.’

‘Short Term 12’ and ‘I Am Not A Hipster’ writer/director Destin Cretton has entered into talks to ‘The Glass Castle,’ an adaptation gossip columnist Jeanette Walls’ bestselling memoirs that has Jennifer Lawrence attached to star.

The book, published in 2005, tells of “a young girl who comes of age in a dysfunctional family of nonconformist nomads with a mother who’s an eccentric artist and an alcoholic father who would stir the children’s imagination with hope as a distraction to their poverty.”

Variety hears that Cretton will take a pass on the script with Andrew Lanham, which features an earlier draft by Marti Noxon (‘Fright Night,’ ‘Buffy’). The project is set up over at Lionsgate with Lawrence and Gil Netter (‘Life of Pi,’ ‘Water For Elephants’) producing.
