Jennifer Lawrence Takes THE DIVE with Francis Lawrence

James Cameron producing the freediving drama…

Jennifer Lawrence is reteaming with her ‘Hunger Games’ director Francis Lawrence – no relation – for the long-in-development real-life drama ‘The Dive,’ according to the folks at TheWrap.

Scripted by J. Michael Straczynski, the film tells the true story of legendary husband and wife free-divers, Francisco “Pipin” Ferreras and Audrey Mestre, who, “with but a breath of air in their lungs, plunged to unimaginable depths before swimming back to the surface.”

Lawrence will play Mestre, who died on October 4, 2002 when a world record attempt off the coast of the Dominican Republic went tragically awry.

James Cameron, who was at one point set to direct, will produce the film, along with Lightstorm Entertainment partners Jon Landau and Rae Sanchini.
