Jennifer Aniston, Dennis Quaid and Ty Burrell Join SWITCH

Trio board Elmore Leonard adaptation.

Jennifer Aniston, Dennis Quaid and Ty Burrell (‘Modern Family,’ ‘Dawn of the Dead’) are set to join writer-director Dan Schechter‘s adaptation of Elmore Leonard‘s novel, ‘Switch.’

John Hawkes (‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’) and Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) are set to lead the crime drama, taking the roles of Louis Gara and Ordell Robbie, two ex-cons who team up to kidnap the wife (Aniston) of a corrupt Detroit real estate developer. When the husband (played by Quaid) refuses to pay the ransom for his wife’s return, the ex-cons are forced to rethink their plan, and the jilted housewife uses the duo to get her revenge.

The characters of Louis Gara and Ordell Robbie, are earlier versions of the characters played by Robert De Niro and Samuel L. Jackson in ‘Jackie Brown,’ Quentin Tarantino’s 1997 adaptation of Leonard’s ‘Rum Punch.’

While the project has previously been described as a ‘Jackie Brown’ prequel, Deadline states that is not the case, referring to the fact that Leonard cross pollinates his books with characters from his past novels.
