Jean-Luc Godard’s ALPHAVILLE Getting Indie Remake

New take on the film noir in the works…

Cinematographer Frank Byers (‘Twin Peaks,’ ‘Boxing Helena’) is set step behind the camera to direct an indie remake of the 1965 film noir ‘Alphaville,’ says TheWrap.

Directed by Jean-Luc Godard, the original film followed Lemmy Caution (played by Eddie Constantine), a U.S. secret agent who is sent to the distant space city of Alphaville where he must find a missing agent and free the city from its tyrannical ruler. Anna Karina, Akim Tamiroff, and Howard Vernon also starred.

The remake, penned by Franc. Reyes (‘The Ministers’), is described as a “fresh take” that will reflect today’s political climate.
