Jason Segel and Seth Gordon Plan Maple Syrup Heist Dramedy

Project based on true-life heist.

Jason Segel (‘This Is 40,’ ‘The Five-Year Engagement’) is teaming with ‘Identity Thief’ and ‘Horrible Bosses’ helmer Seth Gordon for an untitled dramedy inspired by a true case of mass syrup theft.

‘Family Guy’ writer Chris Sheridan is handling scripting duties, with the story using journalist Anne Sutherland’s Montreal Gazette reporting as the basis for the story. In August of last year, over $20 million worth of maple syrup was stolen from Quebec’s Federation of Maple Syrup Producers and to date, over 20 individuals have been arrested in conjunction with the heist, the last only six days ago.

Barry Josephson (‘Life as We Know It,’ ‘Enchanted’) will produce alongside Gordon and Segel.
