Borys Kit over THR brings word that John Cena is to headline an untitled action comedy for Netflix, with Jason Bateman (‘Bad Words,’ ‘The Family Fang,’ ‘Ozark’) attached to direct.
Mark Perez, the scribe behind Bateman’s 2018 comedy ‘Game Night,’ is on board to shape the script which centres on “a family that gets stuck in an old abandoned movie studio. The sets come to life and the family members find themselves stuck in various movies.”
In addition to directing, Bateman will produce with his Aggregate Films partner Michael Costigan. Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum will co-produce.
