Jane Levy Lands Female Lead in THE EVIL DEAD

Remake finds its new female lead.

Last week brought news that writer-director Fede Alvarez’s “reinvention” of ‘The Evil Dead’ had found its male lead in ‘Red Riding Hood’ and ‘Deadgirl’ actor Shiloh Fernandez. Now, Deadline has word that ‘Suburgatory’ star Jane Levy is in talks to take the female lead.

If the young actress signs up she will be taking the role of Mia, a character that corresponds to Ash, who was played by Bruce Campbell in the Sam Raimi’s 1981 original. Mia, who is recovering from a recent overdose, is one of five young people head to the remote cabin where evil awaits. Lily Collins was originally set for the role, but was forced to exit the project due to scheduling conflicts.

Levy will next be seen on the big screen in ‘Fun Size,’ the feature debut comedy from Josh Schwartz (‘Chuck,’ ‘The O.C.’).
