James McAvoy and Robin Wright Penn join period drama The Conspirator.
James McAvoy has signed on to star in Robert Redford’s upcoming period drama The Conspirator.
The film follows the true events following the assassination of President Lincoln at Ford’s Theatre in 1865.
Robin Wright Penn joins McAvoy in the film as Mary Surratt, the woman charged with conspiring to kill Lincoln. McAvoy will Frederick Aiken, who defends Surratt and ends up believing that she is innocent.
Filming is expected to get underway next month.
