Trio to face off against a grizzly bear in new thriller.
James Marsden (‘Straw Dogs,’ ‘X-Men’), Thomas Jane (‘Hung,’ ‘Give ’em Hell Malone’) and Billy Bob Thornton (‘Faster,’ ‘Eagle Eye’) are all set to star in the thriller ‘Red Machine’ for helmer David Hackl (‘Saw V’).
Variety reports that Marsden and Jane will be playing two estranged brothers “who reconcile on a camping trip with their girlfriends. Once in the remote wilderness, however, things go horribly awry when they are attacked and relentlessly stalked by a horrifying grizzly bear — the Red Machine.” Thornton will play a legendary bear expert and hunter.
Talking about the film, Hackl stated, “I want to examine the thrill of very real fear. An audience is more easily drawn in by a story that they consider plausible and relatable — something that could actually take place in the real world. Just by the premise you know something bad is going to happen.”
Dominic Ianno and Stuart Pollok of Indomitable Entertainment will produce, with the screenplay coming from first time screenwriter J.R. Reher.
