James Mangold Takes CITY STATE Remake

‘The Wolverine’ director to remake Icelandic thriller.

Deadline reports that James Mangold (‘Walk the Line,’ ‘3:10 to Yuma’) has been tapped to direct an English-language remake of Olaf de Fleur’s 2011 Icelandic thriller ‘City State.’

Written and directed by de Fleur, the thriller deals with the intersecting lives of four people when a foreign mafia decides to take control of the Icelandic drug market: A police woman lost in violence, a mechanic revenging for his lost son, a crime kingpin with a heart condition, and a corrupt police captain in love with a prostitute.

Mangold will develop the remake with his Tree Line Films partner Cathy Konrad. Next up for Mangold is ‘The Wolverine’ with Hugh Jackman, the comic book sequel begins production in spring 2012.
