James Mangold Adapting Children’s Book CRENSHAW

‘Logan’ and ‘Walk The Line’ director James Mangold is set to take the reins for a feature adaption of Newbery-winning author Katherine Applegate’s children’s novel ‘Crenshaw.’

Published back in 2015, the magical book follows 10 year-old Jackson whose family have fallen on hard times. There is no more money for rent, and not much for food, either. His parents, his little sister, and their dog may have to live in their minivan. Again. That is when Jackson’s imaginary friend — a giant, outspoken cat named Crenshaw — comes back into his life to offer some help.

According to THR, the plan is for a live-action adaptation, with Frederick Seton providing the script. Kickstart Productions (‘Wanted,’ ‘Preacher’) is producing.
