James Bobin Tackles AGENT ZIGZAG

Helmer adds another project to his future slate.

James Bobin (‘The Muppets,’ ‘Flight of the Conchords,’ ‘Da Ali G Show’) has signed up to direct the espionage thriller ‘Agent Zigzag,’ reports Variety.

An adaptation of Ben Macintyre’s 2008 novel, the plot revolves around the true story of Eddie Chapman, an English pre-war criminal who was recruited by the German Secret Service during World War II. In 1941, after training as a German spy in occupied France, Chapman was parachuted into Britain with orders from the Abwehr to blow up an airplane factory. Instead, he contacted the British Secret Service and offered his services. For the next four years, Chapman worked as a highly effective double agent.

The screenplay was penned by Mark Bomback with re-writes from Rowan Joffe.

‘Agent Zigzag’ will be produced by Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Merideth Finn via Playtone Pictures, with Cue the Dog Productions also on board.
