Gyllenhaal to produce and star in indie.
‘End of Watch’ and ‘Source Code’ star Jake Gyllenhaal has closed a deal to take the lead in the edgy indie thriller ‘Nightcrawler,’ reports Variety.
Marking the directorial debut of screenwriter Dan Gilroy (‘The Bourne Legacy,’ ‘Real Steel,’ ‘The Fall’), the story follows “a driven young man who discovers the nocturnal world of L.A. freelance crime journalism.”
Rene Russo (‘Thor: The Dark World’) is set to co-star.
In addition to starring, Gyllenhaal will produce the feature alongside Gilroy, Jennifer Fox, Michel Litvak and David Lancaster.
