Ronan has her leading men. Deadline and Entertainment Weekly report that actors Jake Abel (‘Supernatural,’ ‘Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief;) and Max Irons (‘Red Riding Hood’) have landed the male leads in Andrew Niccol’s adaptation of Stephanie Meyer’s sci-fi novel ‘The Host.’ The film stars Saoirse Ronan as Melanie, a young woman whose dying body is invaded by an alien force known as Wanderer. Abel has been cast in the role of Ian, a young man who falls in love with Wanderer despite the fact that she is in the body of Melanie. Irons, son of Oscar-winning Jeremy Irons, will play Jared, who is in love with Melanie. ‘The Host’ is set to begin shooting in February in Louisiana before moving on to New Mexico.
