Who’d have thought skateboarding down stairs could be so profitable?

Johnny Knoxville and co. are laughing all the way to the bank. Their latest cinema outing Jackass 3D broke October box office records in America this weekend. The 10-year old reality stunt show from MTV collected a whopping $50 million at the box office. The highest on record for October (the previous high was Scary Movie 3 in 2003).

It also has become the second highest earning R-Rated opener of all time, after 8 Mile with $51.2 million. Paramount promoted the film heavily by touring the film’s cast to college campuses, while MTV aired two specials to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the show.

Red opened in second place, with a take of $22.5 million.

Jack-Ass 3D will open in Ireland on November 5th
