Jack Reynor Joins Ben Wheatley’s FREE FIRE

Irish star Jack Reynor, Sharlto Copley, Brie Larson, Sam Riley, Noah Taylor, Enzo Cilenti and Babou Ceesay have become the latest additions to the cast of Ben Wheatley’s crime thriller ‘Free Fire.’

Also starring Cillian Murphy, Michael Smiley, and Armie Hammer, the explosive action thriller revolves around an arms deal which goes spectacularly wrong.

Set in Boston in 1978, the film sees Larson plays a woman who has brokered a meeting in a deserted warehouse between two Irishmen (Murphy and Smiley) and a gang (led by Hammer and Copley) who are selling them a stash of guns. However, when shots are fired in the handover, a heart-stopping game of survival ensues.

Principal photography is underway with Andy Starke and Wheatley’s Rook Films producing, and legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese serving as executive producer. Film4 and the British Film Institute are backing the project.

“It’s a testament to the way Ben makes his films and works with actors that he’s attracted such a first-class international cast to strap on the squibs for Free Fire,” said Ben Roberts, Director of the BFI Film Fund. “And Scorsese for heaven’s sake… We’re very excited.”
