Iron Man duo to pen Akira remake
Iron Man scribes Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby have signed on to write the live-action Akira film.
The writing duo have replaced Gary Whit, who was brought on board to pen the script for Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way company.
Based on Katsuhiro Ôtomohis’s six part manga series, the story follows a member of a motorbike gang in post-apocalyptic ‘New Tokyo’ whose hidden powers are activated by a government experiment.
The remake’s location will move from Japan to New York and the project could begin production next year for a 2011 release.
