Irish Horror Comedy GRABBERS to Open Galway Film Fleadh

Irish creature feature to open Galway Film Fleadh.

It has been announced that Irish horror-comedy ‘Grabbers’ will get its Irish Premiere as the Opening Night Film of this year’s Galway Film Fleadh (10th – 15th July 2012).

Directed by Belfast-born Jon Wright (‘Tormented,’ ‘Fancy Dress’) from an original screenplay by Kevin Lehane (‘The Fourth Wall’), the story captures the idyll and charm of a rural Irish fishing village, as the peace of the enchanting Erin Island community is shattered by an invasion of giant squid-like creatures from the sea, known as “grabbers.” When the giant bloodsucking creatures begin to pick off the villagers, it’s up to two mismatched cops–an irresponsible alcoholic and his new partner, a by-the-book woman from the mainland–to protect the townsfolk. Their only weapon, they discover, is booze. If they want to survive the creatures’ onslaught, everyone will have to get very, very drunk!

‘Grabbers’ is a whimsical throwback to classic monster flicks and relishes in delivering perfectly timed thrills and madcap antics. In true cult fashion, ‘Grabbers’ imparts the great fun of a spooky old carnival ride with an Irish twist. Don’t forget to grab a drink!

Tickets for the opening night are now available from Town Hall Theatre. For further details and information head over to www.galwayfilmfleadh.com
