Irish animation The Breadwinner wins ADIFF Audience Award

This years ADIFF came to a close last night with a star studded premiere screening of The Delinquent Season. The event, which saw stars Cillian Murphy and Andrew Scott walk the red carpet had been postponed after snow storms caused mayhem with the festivals original time slot.

Now that the festival is over, the festival can reveal what movie got the most votes from the cinema going public and we’re happy to share that the Irish made animation THE BREADWINNER picks up the gong for 2018. The animation from Kilkenny studio Cartoon Saloon has been winning praise across the globe, including an Oscar nomination, but there’s something special about winning an award at home.

Director of The Breadwinner, Nora Twomey said ‘”On behalf of our entire cast, crew, funders and producers across Ireland, Canada and Luxembourg, I am absolutely thrilled with the ADIFF AUDI-ence Award. The Breadwinner was a massive collaborative effort, and to have the film honoured at such a wonderful festival as ADIFF, makes me very proud of all involved with its creation.”

The Breadwinner will open in Irish cinemas nationwide on May 25th 2018
