We were given the opportunity to submit questions to Chaske Spencer, who plays Sam Uley in Twilight - New Moon. So with the help of Irish Twilight fan site http://www.irishtwilightfans.com we put the following questions to him, and here are the answers. They're short... but sweet!
When did you sign up for New Moon?
March 9th, 2009 was the official day it all began.
Had Twilight The Movie become the global phenomenon yet?
Yes it had.
Knowing how Twilight propelled the level of interest in all cast members, are you excited or apprehensive about how New Moon will inevitably change your life?
Both- I think it’s important to take this all with a grain of salt.
Tell us about the audition process? What were producers looking for?
They were looking for an actor who had all the qualities of a leader.
Had you read the original books beforehand? What were your thoughts?
No, I did not.
Do you ever feel over-exposed on set in your "costume" (or lack there of…!)
I feel over-exposed everyday (laughs).
How did you physically and mentally prepare yourself for the role of Sam Uley? Did you have to bulk up for the role?
Mentally I read the books and listened to music to help get me into character and physically the gym is my new 2nd home.
Is the hype surrounding the film as crazy as you thought it would be?
No, it’s crazier!
Is there a feeling on set that you're creating something huge?
Yes, there is anticipation in the air that we are making our stamp on pop culture.
Your biography stated that you moved to NYC with only $100.00 in your pocket. What made you pick NYC from Idaho? What did your parents think of you moving across the country with only $100.00 and no where to stay?
My parents were worried for me but I wanted to study acting from the best teachers and New York seemed like the only option.
What are the differences, between working with Chris Weitz in New Moon and working with David Slade on Eclipse?
I feel closer to Chris Weitz since he was the one who cast me but I totally respect David Slade’s work ethic- he is a professional.
How do you switch from Wolfpack Alpha leader, to Emily's adorable puppy?
A kiss helps (laughs).
Do you have a favourite werewolf?
Yeah, I like Leah, I think her story is captivating.
What would you like to do after the Twilight saga is finished?
More films, maybe the next one I would like to have more clothes on (laughs).
