Father Ted writer Arthur Matthews talks Wide Open Spaces

He’s responsible for some of the funniest comedy to hit Irish television screens over the last decade – including the likes of ‘Alas Smith and Jones’ ‘Black Books’ ‘Stew; and “Father Ted”. Now, comedy legend Arthur Matthews is reuniting with Ardal O’Hanlon for his latest feature film “Wide Open Spaces”.


Shot on location in Kildare, the film follows two thirty-something slackers and a series of misadventures that ensue when they open up a tourist attraction with a difference, a famine theme-park.


Movies.ie met with the writer to discuss going head to head with Harry Potter at the box office, reuniting with Ardal and his own favourite comedy flicks:
