Interview Kim Kardashian

From Iron Man to Juno, nobody is safe in the latest spoof pic ‘Disaster Movie’. Here Hollywood glamazon Kim Kardashian talks to us about the film.

Kim Jardashian was born into fame – her mother is married to Olympic gold medallist Bruce Jenner; her late father Robert Kardashian was a defence lawyer on the O.J. Simpson trial; and her over-protective younger brother is reality TV heartthrob Brody Jenner from MTV’s ‘The Hills’ – despite all this, Kim Kardashian managed to avoid the spotlight until last year, when a sex tape surfaced of Kim and then-boyfriend Ray J (singer Brandy’s brother).

Since then Kim has gone on to become one of Hollywood’s most celebrated Hollywood socialites (next to her former BFF Paris Hilton). She’s a successful entrepreneur, model and star of her own TV reality series. ‘Keeping Up With The Karadashians’ and now, the Hollywood glamazon is taking to the big screen in her first feature film ‘Disaster Movie’.

From Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer ( the duo behind movie hits ‘Scary Movie,’ ‘Date Movie,’ ‘Epic Movie’ and ‘Meet the Spartans) comes their spoof of one of the biggest and most bloated movie genres of all time – the disaster film. In it, we follow the comic misadventures of a group of ridiculously attractive twenty-somethings during one fateful night as they try to make their way to safety while every known natural disaster and catastrophic event – asteroids, twisters, earthquakes, the works – hits the city and their path as they try to solve a series of mysteries to end the rampant destruction.

Taking aim at everything and everyone, from ‘Indy’ and ‘Iron Man’ to Amy Winehouse and ‘High School Musical,’ ‘Disaster Movie’ lampoons the blockbuster movie, pop culture icons and public figures along the way as  Friedberg and Seltzer satirize everyone and everything as only they can. Here, the Hollywood socialite  Kardashian fills us in on the movie, her character and  her now infamous wrestling scene with Carmen Electra.

Q:Tell us about your character in Disaster Movie?
I play a character named Lisa. I’m basically a twenty year old, have a boyfriend who’s name is Calvin, he’s in the movie. I’m kind of sassy, have a little bit of an attitude all the time with him and we’re basically, you know, just a group of friends that are trying to get out the city, because a whole bunch of natural disasters are going on and along the way we spoof a whole bunch of movies.

Q:This is your first venture onto the big screen, how did you find it?
Well, I’ve done TV shows but I’ve never done a movie before, so this is definitely something that’s a first for me, it’s new for me, and I love the experience so far. I’m so glad that, you know, I’m a part of this film.

Q:What was it like to work along aside Carmen Electra…
Carmen and I met one time before, neither one of us had signed up yet, so we hosted a party together and she was the sweetest thing ever, so it was good to see her. We have some mutual friends, but we’ve never really hung out. Didn’t know much, didn’t really know what to expect, but she also has been a really good teacher, watching her do this, even though, you know, we’ve just had a few days of filming so far together, it’s been you know one on one scenes and she’s just taught me a whole lot.

Q:The two get down to some semi-glad wrestling in the film, how was that to shoot?
Yeah, Carmen and I had a huge wrestling scene, and first of all it’s so intimidating. You’re wearing like leotards and just nothing, and you have to wrestle Carmen Electra, so that’s pretty intimidating for me because she’s like half my size, and but she was amazing, and she really like helped me through it, and that was such a fun scene. That was probably my favourite out of…

Q: How do you think people will react to the film?
I think that people are just going to take away from this film that we just had a really good time. You know, we are spoofing people but it’s very light-hearted, nobody means any harm by it, we’re just having a really good time. We’re taking all the most popular films, that are current issues, and current you know, just topics going on right now and spoofing them, so we spoof everything from Miley Cyrus, to Juno, to the Jonas Brothers. It’s so funny I think this is for me this is one of their best films that they’ve done so far, and I’m just really excited for it.

‘Disaster movie’  is in Irish cinemas  from September 5th.
