INSIDE MAN Sequel To Star Aml Ameen

‘Sense8’ and ‘The Maze Runner’ star Aml Ameen, who was most recently seen as the lead in Idris Elba’s directorial debut ‘Yardie,’ is to take the lead in a follow-up to Spike Lee’s 2006 crime thriller ‘Inside Man,’ Deadline has learned.

The first film starred Denzel Washington as a tough cop, Detective Frazier, who matches wits with a clever bank robber, Dalton (played by Clive Owen). As the dangerous cat-and-mouse game unfolds, a wild card emerges: Madaline (Jodie Foster), a power broker with a hidden agenda, who injects even more instability into an already volatile situation.

With Ameen’s fellow Brit MJ Bassett (‘Deathwatch,’ ‘Ash vs Evil Dead,’ ‘Power,’ ‘Solomon Kane’) behind the camera, the new film sees the U.S. Federal Reserve robbed by a highly organized and cleverly orchestrated team of crooks. With dozens of tourists held hostage during a 10-hour siege, an NYPD hostage negotiator (Ameen) and a federal agent join forces to rescue the hostages and foil the heist.

Universal 1440 Entertainment is producing the film with Bassett directing from a script by Brian Brightly.
