Inarritu

Norton set for dark comedy.

Yesterday we learned that Michael Keaton had been cast as the lead in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s dark comedy ‘Birdman,’ now Deadline’s Mike Fleming has word that Edward Norton (‘Moonrise Kingdom,’ ‘The Incredible Hulk’) has been added to the cast.

Also set to star Emma Stone, Naomi Watts and Zach Galifianakis, the film follows “a former actor, who once played an iconic superhero, as he mounts a Broadway play based on a Raymond Carver short story in a bid to reclaim past glory. However, the play’s egotistical leading man threatens to throw everything down the tubes.” Norton is set to play the narcissistic actor.

‘Birdman’ is produced by Inarritu, John Lesher and Robert Graf. The director penned the script with Nicolas Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris and Armando Bo.
